Catherine Kaputa is a brand and media strategist, author and speaker on marketing your brand in the Media 2.0 world.

Catherine is a dynamic speaker on today’s hot topic in marketing – how the marketing rulebook is being rewritten due to all the changes in media and technology. She also talks about self-branding, the topic of her new book, U R A BRAND, How Smart People Use Brand Strategy to Propel Business Success.

Catherine works with companies both big and small on one of the most critical areas – brand and media strategy. Brand strategy is about attaching a “big idea” to a product or company – one that resonates with the target audience and is different from others. And in today’s “Media 2.0” world, the media you choose is part of your brand message.

For fifteen years through 2001, Catherine was a SVP, Director of Advertising and Community Affairs at Smith Barney. She handled all advertising, media and branding campaigns for the corporate, private client and investment banking groups worldwide. She also initiated the private client group’s cause-related marketing and philanthropic program.

Catherine’s first big job in advertising was at Wells, Rich, Greene where she supervised the award-winning “I Love NY” tourism campaign for four years.

Her early mentors in advertising were Al Ries and Jack Trout during her four years at Trout & Ries Advertising where she worked on a wide range of accounts. Catherine was also an adjunct professor at the Stern School of Business, New York University

Catherine has a B.A. from Northwestern University, an M.A. from the University of Washington and was a Ph.D. Candidate at Harvard University. She lives in New York City.
